Atlanta Film Society is pleased to announce the screening of GIRLFIGHT, directed by Karyn Kusama. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, Girlfight is featured as this year's ATLFS ¡CINEMÁS! screening, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month!

This special event is presented in partnership with Latinas in Media Atlanta, joining forces to amplify Latine voices and celebrate underrepresented stories through film. We hope you will be able to join us for this exciting evening.

The film will screen at the Plaza Theater on Sunday, October 12 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.).

Girlfight is a 2000 American sports film written and directed by Karyn Kusama in her feature directorial debut. Starring Michelle Rodriguez in her film debut, it follows a troubled Brooklyn high school student, who decides to channel her aggression by training to become a boxer, despite the disapproval of her father and prospective trainers, as well as the competitors in the male-dominated sport.

Diana Guzman begins to train as a boxer and achieves impressive success, blazing new trails for female boxers, all while keeping it a secret from her father.
